What is a Behavior Modification Program?

The Behavior Modification Program is an intergenerational, structured, comprehensive and non-residential community-based program that provides planned care, on an intensive outpatient basis, for clients who are physically/mentally challenged in a supervised, protective and congregate setting.

Our program provides an alternative to sustained institutionalization and gives primary caregivers the benefit of respite from hour-to-hour care giving. Our program gives socially isolated adults the opportunity to establish new roles and relationships in a safe and trusting environment. Our Behavioral Modification Program allows our clients to maintain a sense of dignity, community belonging and increases their self-esteem and self-worth.

We offer a comprehensive program especially tailored for individuals who need supervision and assistance during the day. We bring together health, social, psychiatric, psychological and an array of other supportive services in a friendly and non-institutional setting.

We offer individualized treatment plans and personalized service to each of our clients in an environment that encourages socialization under the direction of a physician and/or psychiatrist. Nursing, rehabilitation, therapeutic activities, counseling, therapeutic exercise, life skills training, nutritious meals and snacks and prearranged transportation to and from our facility are all coordinated to help our clients maintain maximum independence, comfort and enjoyment.

Behavior Modification Philosophy

The Behavioral Modification Program is designed to provide service on an ambulatory and semi-ambulatory basis (with minimal assistance) for a more sensible, less expensive and less restrictive alternative, than hospitalization or living facilities. We specialize in providing psychosocial rehabilitative services to those individuals who are unable to maintain themselves in the community or sustain independent living arrangements and who possess the ability to maintain a consistent place of residence.

We will provide services to those clients who are considered mentally challenged. Our mental health professionals specialize in treating: mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, impulse-control disorders, communication disorders, personality disorders, adjustment disorders, delirium, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and substance or alcohol abuse problems. We are also committed to working with people with developmental disabilities to improve their quality of life and independence.

We assure continuity and quality care for clients admitted to our Behavior Modification Program and we insure and promote good communication between referring agencies and our behavior center staff.

Mission Statement

The Behavior Health Associates’ Behavior Modification Program will strive to provide a client-oriented program that addresses and effectively fosters the functional mental, physical, emotional, and psychosocial health of its clients. In short, a qualitative program that says, “We Care.”

A holistic approach that employs behavioral techniques to enhance, elicit and reward positive, social and affectively appropriate behaviors will serve as the means by which we will achieve our therapeutic, client-oriented goals, while fully addressing the medical and therapeutic needs of our clients.

Purpose

New Beginnings’ Behavior Health Associates’ Behavior Modification Program desires to serve individuals while reducing the symptoms of their diagnosis and enhancing their self-esteem by teaching them the psychology of coping with self. We seek to improve or restore their level of functioning through continued medication, which is monitored by our staff nurse. Group therapy and therapeutic activities such as arts & crafts and daily exercises, both physical & spiritual will be utilized by Qualified Treatment Professionals to enhance our psychosocial rehabilitation components.
