Transitional Housing
Services
- 24 hr/365 day per year security and supervision;
- Family style living arrangement with private (when
available) or semi-private bedrooms and shared common areas;
- Three meals per day – five days per week; two meals and
snacks on Saturdays and Sundays;
- Clients are referred to outpatient drug treatment and
counseling programs and/or psychiatric counseling services;
- Clients are referred to gainful employment opportunities;
provided transportation where and when necessary;
- Clients receive assistance in accessing Illinois Link Card
(food stamps), medical card and cash assistance through Social
Security pending disability;
- Clients receive assistance filing their Social Security
forms, reconsideration documents and hearing appeals;
- Clients receive assistance to obtain clothing from Catholic
Charities, Safer Foundation and Cathedral Shelter;
Admission Criteria
- Men and women18-60 years old;
- Must have some form of identification or have the ability to
obtain state identification;
- Impairment in vocational, social, psychological or family
functioning because of substance abuse;
- An agreement to abide by the rules and regulations governing
behavior in the recovery home;
- An agreement to participate in outpatient substance abuse
treatment, mental health counseling or behavior modification
classes;
- Homeless or housing is at risk;
- Men and women who have a history of mental illness; are
currently taking medication and are capable of performing Adult
Daily Living Skills without assistance;
- Men and women who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS;
- Men and women who have been paroled directly to New
Beginnings from the Illinois Department of Corrections.
All cases are reviewed on an individual basis. Some exceptions
can and will be made once a case is reviewed. Clients that are not
honest during their assessment may cause a delay in services or
termination of residency.
